Frequently Asked Questions

What is MailOven?
MailOven gives your team a catch-all email subdomain (e.g. @acme.mailoven.com). Every email sent to any address on that subdomain lands in a shared inbox — no setup per address. It's built for developers and QA teams who need to test email flows in staging, CI, or integration environments.
How much does it cost?
MailOven is free during the beta. When paid plans launch, every beta user will receive 6 months free on their subscription — no credit card needed to get started.
Do I need to create individual email addresses?
No. Every address on your subdomain is automatically captured. Send to test1@acme.mailoven.com, signup-flow@acme.mailoven.com, or any other address — it all arrives in your shared inbox instantly.
How long are emails retained?
You control the retention period from your organization settings. Emails older than the configured number of days are automatically purged.
Can I invite my team?
Yes. Invite teammates by email from your organization settings. All members see the same shared inbox, making it easy to collaborate on test email triage.
Is there an API?
Yes. MailOven provides a REST API and an official JavaScript client so you can query inboxes and assert on emails directly from your test suite (Jest, Vitest, Playwright, Cypress, etc.).
Can other people see my emails?
No. Your subdomain is exclusive to your organization. Only invited members can access your inbox. There is no public directory of subdomains.
Can I send emails from MailOven?
No. MailOven is receive-only — it captures incoming email for testing purposes. It does not send outbound email.
Does MailOven support attachments?
Attachments are not currently supported. Only the email subject, sender, and body (text and HTML) are captured.
Can I use my own domain?
Not yet. Custom domains are on the roadmap. For now, all inboxes use a .mailoven.com subdomain.
